What to do if you live next to a sex offender

Judge rules against dad who lives in same building as sex offender

CANTON, N.Y. (AP) _ A father in northern New York says he's being punished for someone else's crime just because he lives in the same apartment building as a convicted sex offender. A judge has told Randy King his five-year-old son can't visit him at his Canton apartment because a sex offender lives in the building. The judge's ruling came after the boy's mother objected to the visits. The judge says unless King or the sex offender moves, the boy's weekly visits must take place somewhere other than King's apartment. King tells a Watertown T-V station (W-W-N-Y) that he can't afford to move and has the right to live wherever he chooses. He also says he never leaves his son unsupervised and takes every precaution to keep the boy safe.
