An email from Greg RE impounded cars

Oh man, You have hit on a HUGE problem . . .
My neighbor lost her car to city impound after it was stolen because she couldn't pay, when she got the money together, the daily fee had continued to accumulate and she STILL couldn't afford to get it out!
City impound is no better than the towing companies! They prowl around low income apartment complexes and tow for RIDICULOUS things. It's one thing to tow for legitimate violations: parked in handicapped, no tags, etc... But, wheels touching the white line because the car that USED to be parked in the next space was too close?, no parking sticker in your new car, when the office was closed the weekend you bought it. Towing a car you borrowed in an emergency that lacked the parking sticker, I could go on and on....
